Prayer:- Criminal Original Petition filed under Section 482 of Cr.P.C to direct the respondents herein to provide police protection (strong escort) to the detenue Dinesh @ Dineshkumar, Son of Karthikeyan, now confining at Central Prison, Vellore to the trial Court Kanchipuram in accordance with law. The petitioner's son Dinesh @ Dinesh Kumar is a remand prisoner. He is a murder case accused. The petitioner apprehends that the opponents of her son may bump him off, when he is taken for remand.

2. I am of the view that the physical presence of the accused before the Magistrate can be dispensed with. The periodical remand of the petitioner's son can be done through video conferencing. If the prisoner has to be taken on remand and produced in person before the Magistrate concerned, the Prison Officials as well as the Police Officials are obviously having the sole responsibility to ensure the physical safety of the remand prisoner.

3. With these observations, the Criminal Original Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
